Lourdes
Ahh! Ive just returned from an estate.. it was located high on the top floor, I ride the elevator up to a penthouse suite in Miami Beach,
I am greeted by two beautiful old massive double doors as they open. I remark how gorgeous they are. Lourdes tells me a story of the beautiful doors. She and her husband had fallen in love with them in Morocco they are dated circa 1800's. I am not quite sure how they made it up here it is such a small elevator & corridor, nonetheless I am in a condo overlooking the sea, I am so high up the sea looks as if it is the sky and the vast windows are covered with sea-mist, she lets me walk around a bit making myself at home, my consignor is in her 70s and is beautiful a former model and actress, she has, and still does enjoy life to its fullest!
Lourdes says "my trick is to live for today, and in the now"
I am directed to look in her bedroom and told as well as her spare bedroom, both closets are full
And beautifully organized
On top of her bed she has laid out some of her jewelry she wishes to consign. I am in awe. My favorite piece features what seems like hundreds of strands of fine fire Coral Beads and turquoise with beautiful silver carvings and set stones of coral and turquoise and she has another laid inside with a beautiful large heart shaped pendant of turquoise
Lourdes said "although they do not belong together I have married them to each other. Both can travel separately if one would choose!"
I see there is so much to go through, I pull out my lap top and start her consignment sheet. I list each piece and type a few details of hers as I am always after a provenance, and Lourdes is more than eager and willing to provide me information "her stories" of her pieces.
The closet reminds me of BIBA, Deco and elegant, her center armoire of drawers has a lovely Deco lady on top of it with a globe lamp atop her feet, it is very old and lovely, she turns it on!
Now I see the clothes, I say to myself I will be coming back here for a few days this is breathtaking!
I have logged in about a dozen or so dresses and some insane hats, a keen eye fine elegant lines trimmings of satins and beautiful buttons without a doubt her favorite years the 40s and 60s!
We have tea, and I explain to Lourdes I will return tomorrow at 9 am sharp to continue
I ask her to provide me with more lovely stories & to note them, so we don't forget a detail!
I place the dresses and the jewels and hats on my rack and boxes and make my way down the elevator... I am so excited to photograph the pieces I have gathered this morning and begin my listings as soon as I can! equally excite to return tomorrow to see and hear more!
